Autumn Returns

Autumn has arrived, chanterelles aplenty.

So after a small blogging hiatus I’m back. As usual this will likely be followed by some post-dated articles from the summer which was fantastic however we didn’t get a chance to document it all online. Updates will soon follow on our summer road trip to the UK and the final stages including an awesome experience at the Latitude music festival. There was also a side trip to Singapore combining work with holiday and plenty of fun at the Formula 1 and a couple of days on the beach in Lombok.

Back to Stockholm and autumn has returned. Temperatures dropped to 2°C immediately upon my return from Singapore which was a refreshing change, from flip flops to scarves and gloves in twenty four hours. Nevertheless Stockholm is still beautiful at this time of year, the leaves are slowly turning golden and conkers are scattered on the ground. The sky when clear is still the same dazzling blue we have become used to here.

On the home front the girls are staying active. Saskia’s football club had its second league fixture and this time it was against Sollentuna. After a 3-0 defeat in the first match the team regained their composure to win the remaining three games 4-0, 4-1 (doubtful penalty decision) and 3-0. Saskia scored a goal too! Celebration was duly carried out with a extra sweets and treats.

I was the coach for the day and it was great fun to be in charge of the group, even though there were a few raised eyebrows at having a Swedish looking grown up with a funny accent.

Later the same day Lotta completed the Lidingöloppet women’s 10km over a hilly course.

Lidingöloppet 10km completed

I’m still technically in recovery mode after Singapore but this event definitely looks tempting for next year, although I’ll be setting my sights on the full 30km distance.

Amsterdam

After setting out from Malmö we headed south. One of the longest drives in one day and definitely amazed the girls were great throughout the entire twelve hours!

After crossing the enormous bridge linking Denmark and Sweden, we travelled the length of Denmark before hopping onto a ferry at Rodbyhavn and crossing over to Germany. From there it was Autobahn all the way to Amsterdam.

Today was spent wandering around the beautiful canals and streets of Amsterdam. Shame we weren’t here for longer but what a splendid place.
